Randall Griffin - Healthy Adult Who Contracted the Influenza Virus
Randall Griffin was in peak form after turning 50 – he was an avid runner who just received a clean bill of health from his doctor after an annual physical. In the spring of 2009, Randall contracted influenza, which led to the development of double pneumonia, kidney failure, and respiratory failure – requiring dialysis, a tracheotomy, and a ventilator to stay alive. He lost a significant amount of weight, the ability to eat, use his hands, speak, or walk. While Randall's condition continues to improve, his recovery is ongoing and his lifestyle has changed forever. Grateful for surviving to share his personal story, Randall hopes more people will get vaccinated and help protect themselves against this serious health threat after learning about his experience.
