Mother and Daughter Influenza Survivors
- Within days of each other, both Amie and Cailey Welch contracted life-threatening cases of influenza. Both survived but it was a long, hard battle that left young Cailey with long-term effects, including a tracheostomy, as well as the inability to breathe without an oxygen machine from time to time.
After living through one of the hardest years of their lives, Amie and Cailey have become strong advocates for annual influenza vaccination and urge others to get vaccinated so that other families can avoid the physical and emotional toll they experienced.
