Flu Facts

  • Influenza can be deadly.

    Depending on virus severity during the influenza season, deaths can range from 3000 to a high of about 49,000 people.8

  • The flu can lead to trips to the hospital.

    Each year in the US, influenza and its related complications result in an estimated 226,000 hospitalizations, about 20,000 of which involve children younger than 5 years of age.1,11

  • The flu can strike anyone.

    On average, 1 out of 5 Americans suffer from influenza each year.6,7

  • Help protect yourself – get immunized.

    Everyone 6 months of age and older is recommended for an annual flu shot.1

  • You can′t get the flu from the flu shot.

    Because it does not contain any live virus, it is impossible to get the flu from the flu shot.1
